Robert Half Staff Accountant in San Diego, California

Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team based in San Diego, California. In this role, the primary function will be to handle various accounting tasks such as processing journal entries, reconciling credits for insurance programs, and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth financial operations within our organization.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the initiation and follow-up of monthly billing processes

• Prepare and submit credit applications for new vendor accounts

• Ensure compliance with accounting-related tasks and responsibilities as per owner contracts

• Process payments to subcontractors in a timely and efficient manner

• Meet month-end and quarterly deadlines for financial reporting

• Review and track preliminary notices and reconcile credits for insurance programs

• Monitor and review the accuracy of vendor and subcontractor invoices

• Assist with applied and unapplied payments for receivables

• Collect and review lien waivers from subcontractors and sub-tiers

• Support other team members as needed and complete other responsibilities as assigned Requirements • The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role.

• Proficiency in Project Accounting is necessary.

• The applicant should possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credentials are preferred.

• The individual should have a strong understanding of GAAP.

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is required.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are necessary.

• The ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines is crucial.

• The candidate should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Experience in preparing financial statements and tax returns is preferred.

• The individual must be capable of maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

• The applicant should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions are required.

• The candidate should have a thorough understanding of business principles and practices.

• Superior presentation and negotiation skills are a plus.
