Your Duties:
The role of a Structural Intern is to perform structural engineering work on projects of varying complexity under the direction of a Senior Structural Engineer. The Structural Intern will be able to take direction and learn to perform structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures. Additional responsibilities include:
Perform structural calculations and analysis of buildings and other structures
Interpret drawings, building codes, and other similar materials
Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions
Prepare technical drawings and documentation
Work with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of project tasks
Assist with construction administration duties under direction of a senior engineer
May perform field work under supervision of a senior engineer
Perform other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thinking
Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts both verbally and in writing
Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with Revit and other 3D modelling software is preferred
Familiarity with structural design software such as Enercalc, RISA, RAM, SAP/ETABS is a plus
Education and Experience:
Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil, structural or architectural engineering
Minimum of junior level classes complete. Completed courses or concurrent enrollment in structural analysis, steel design, concrete design and earthquake engineering is ideal.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
Salary Range(s):
- CA Other Areas $26.08 - CA Other Areas $33.48 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
