APTIM Health Physics Technicians/Radiological Control Technicians-Field Support in San Francisco, California

Job Summary:

APTIM is seeking experienced Health Physics Technicians to support radiological field operations in San Francisco, CA. We are seeking experienced Health Physics/Radiological Control Technicians who can effectively embrace the technical and operational challenges of high profile and critically important field level project support activities. Technicians that can execute radiation health & safety surveys, controls and processes the highest technical and data integrity standards as set forth by APTIM, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Carries out company's health physics policies and procedures on field project assignments.
  • Performs field Health Physics Technician assignments to align with the objectives of the project work schedule.
  • Maintains and operates radiation measuring equipment; conduct radiological ground surface and equipment surveys, and performs radiological sampling; interprets survey and sample data; able to document radiological surveys performed in high quality, error fee format.
  • Provides instruction to others regarding radiological hazards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years of operational health physics/radiological control experience within the radiation safety field. Navy BRAC or USACE environmental and facility decontamination experience is desired.
  • Familiarity with radiation protection regulations and standards of the USNRC, USDoD, USDOE, and USACE
  • Must have current HAZWOPER 40-hour qualification
  • Performing outdoor work for most of the work shift, and prepared for the climate of the San Francisco bay area (wind, rain, cold, fog, heat).
  • Walking to and from the survey locations over uneven terrain while transporting equipment.
  • Performing radiological surveys over uneven terrain.
  • General standing, bending and reaching to support project survey and housekeeping activities. Must be able to periodically lift and move equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in environments with additional hazards and PPE requirements, including Tyvek® coveralls and respirators.
