Compensation: $67,600 - $73,300

FSLA: Exempt

Location: Hybrid – 3 days/week in office

Location/Hours

  • This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid schedule requiring in-person work three days a week and virtual work two days a week. The typical weekly schedule is as follows:  

  • Fall Term: Tuesday through Saturday (3x a month); Monday through Friday (1x month)

  • Spring Term: Tuesday through Saturday (3x a month); Monday through Friday (1x month)

  • Summer Term: Monday through Friday

  • In-person attendance is required for all Saturday programming dates. 

    Upon hire, all candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at Three Embarcadero Center Promenade Level, Suite P-1 San Francisco, CA 94111. 

  • Work requires local travel beyond the office for Saturday programming at the following locations (subject to change): 

  • UC Law San Francisco, 200 McAllister St, San Francisco, CA 94102

    About SEO Scholars

    SEO Scholars is a free, eight-year, academic program that transforms public high school students into college graduates. SEO Scholars successfully educates and mentors underserved, low-income public high school students to and through college. 100% of Scholars are accepted into four-year colleges, and 90% of Scholars graduate from college and earn a Bachelor’s degree. This is compared to only 60% of all students who enter college nationally and 20% of students who come from similar backgrounds as our Scholars. SEO Scholars has programs in New York, San Francisco, North Carolina and Miami. SEO Scholars San Francisco (SF Scholars) was established in 2011 and continues to grow. We welcomed 120 ninth graders to the 2024 9th grade class and have expanded to serve students throughout the Bay Area.

    Position Overview & Responsibilities

    The Program Manager, Mentoring and Enrichment (PM M&E) leads the strategic and day-to-day operations of our mentorship and enrichment programs - two key elements of the Scholars program. SF Scholars’ Mentorship Program matches 11th grade Scholars with local professionals across many industries who volunteer to provide guidance and support as Scholars begin to explore colleges and careers. Our Enrichment Program provides Scholars with opportunities ranging from academic and experiential to professional, helping them to build skills and confidence, while also bolstering college applications. 

    With a focus on creating opportunities for underserved high school students, the PM M&E maintains the communications, systems and processes that support 11th Grade Scholars along their journey through college and career. The PM M&E plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of various program components, and supporting Scholars, mentors, and enrichment program partners.

    Mentoring Program 

  • Oversees all facets of the mentorship program including mentor recruitment, selection, onboarding, matching, and programming.

  • Partners with Scholar-facing 11th Grade Program Managers to align mentoring sessions with general Scholar programming and curriculum.

  • Serve as secondary on-site lead for mentoring Saturdays, including managing attendance and co-facilitating sessions.

  • Serves as point person for mentoring platform and liaises with team to build out platform. Maintains all platform data such recruitment data, including application, interview, acceptance and outreach information.

  • Coordinates all logistics for mentoring info sessions.

  • Adjusts processes and/or programming as needed based on mentor/mentee survey data to ensure the program continues to achieve goals.

  • Manages one-off volunteer events.

    Enrichment Program

  • Leads Enrichment Program strategy and execution from partner recruitment to Scholar matching to program evaluation to ensure Scholars benefit from their experiences.

  • Collects, tracks, and manages data relevant to the enrichment program process, including transcripts, tax forms, family permission, and program preferences.

  • Serve as the Program lead for the Professional Experience Internship Program, working directly with Scholars and partners and collaborating with the Development team.

  • Plans and manages the Enrichment Program Fair, including recruitment and coordination of student volunteers, materials creation, oversight of student presentation oversights, and coordinating event logistics coordination such as food & staffing.

  • Oversees Enrichment Programs by liaising with program contacts and guiding Scholars through application and enrollment cycles.

  • Advises assigned Scholars in completing program and financial aid applications, including the meetings, timelines, essay editing, and materials collection to ensure on-time completion.

  • Collaborate with Salesforce team to build out Salesforce term enrollments and lead all Enrichment Program data, tracking, and systems.  

  • Manages supply request & ordering processes for all students.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 2+ years of experience teaching, coaching, or advising high school students with at least one year of supervisory experience 

  • Previous mentor program experience

  • Experience working with students in underserved communities and passion for preparing them to lead by example in their families, communities, and careers

  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude

  • Demonstrated ability to execute on short-term, deadline-driven tasks, as well as important long-term projects requiring collaboration with internal and external constituencies

  • Knowledge of the California public college system and top ranked private colleges preferred 

  • A proven track record of repeatedly building successful relationships with partners and leveraging relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive towards successful outcomes

  • Ability to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule and occasional evenings as dictated by department needs 

    Core Competencies and Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail orientation, and ability to multitask and handle changing priorities

  • Superb interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Suite

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience working with databases such as Salesforce 

  • Bilingual Spanish/English is highly desirable
