Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Development, East, the role is responsible for valuation, due diligence, and execution of project acquisition opportunities as well as strategy, structuring, and pricing support for development and power marketing of utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage assets.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Asset origination and acquisition: Support and lead all parts of the M&A process, including origination, structuring, and closing of high-quality, profitable solar, wind, and energy storage projects.

  • Own the project financial model. Work with Project Finance and Risk teams to ensure conformance with underwriting guidelines, investment metrics, and forecasted cash flows. Run sensitivity analyses and generate ideas to optimize valuations and transaction structures.

  • Coordinate with internal functional teams, third-party consultants, and deal counterparts on due diligence activities and financial model inputs to qualify project investments before executing acquisition documents.

  • Prepare detailed memos and presentations for senior management and the investment committee.

  • Create and manage tools to monitor market activity and track internal origination strategy to identify new growth areas and M&A targets.

  • Support ongoing origination, development, and financing activities for pipeline projects:

  • Support pricing analysis and bidding strategy to originate offtake contracts for Clearway’s 10GW+ development portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects.

  • Develop statistical analyses to quantify risk in highly structured commodity transactions.

  • Work with functional groups, third-party consultants, and other stakeholders to drive projects forward and perform quantitative analyses to support development and financing decisions.

  • Lead strategic initiatives aimed at improving analytical tools and informing key business activities at Clearway.

  • Develop model functionality for new and innovative financial and offtake structures (in Excel and VBA) and improve existing quantitative analysis tools.

  • Assist with ongoing efforts to improve financial optimization, underwriting, deal tracking, etc.

  • Lead special projects across internal functional groups to drive value creation throughout the development, procurement, construction, and financing processes.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree required in finance, business administration, economics, policy, or engineering.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a finance or development role with a specific focus on financial modeling.

  • Renewable energy, cleantech, and/or power markets experience.

  • Experience navigating discounted cash flow models.

  • Experience at a U.S. solar, wind, or energy storage development company or Independent Power Producer in a quantitative, transactional role such as project finance, M&A, or power marketing/PPA origination; OR relevant, transferable experience in investment banking or private equity (or similar).

  • Aptitude for analytical and financial modeling with demonstrated attention to detail. Quantitative skills are a must for this position.

  • Advanced capabilities in Excel and PowerPoint are essential.

  • Ability to summarize complex issues and identify opportunities or next steps.

  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects/work streams, set priorities, and exercise independent judgment.

What Would Be Nice

  • Experience with VBA or other programming languages.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations

$148,000-$180,000USD
