US Tech Solutions Software Testing Engineer - Compliance in San Francisco, California

Software Testing Engineer - (needs to come from a strong Software Engineering background)

100% Remote

6+ Months Contract

What You'll Be Doing (i.e., Job Duties)

As a software testing engineer, you'll be involved in testing backend and frontend compliance related applications (e.g., transaction monitoring, customer risk scoring, sanctions screening). You'll create and conduct automated and manual tests against other engineers' software to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and any bugs or issues are removed before deployment. You will monitor production code via automated regression testing and analyze/document any defects. Strong software engineering skills are required.

  • Work with developers to create and execute unit, smoke, integration, end-to-end, and regression testing in SQL and Python (e.g., Pytest).

  • Conduct stress, performance, functional, migration, and scalability testing

  • Monitor applications post deployment, reconcile anomalies and failed test cases, and offer solutions

  • Write bug/defect reports and document analysis

  • Work towards departmental and project deadlines

  • Provide objective feedback to software development project teams

  • Liaise with project teams globally

Skills:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a software engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or in any other related field

  • Experience building and executing automated regression tests using SQL and Python

  • Exposure to test management applications (e.g. Pytest, Xray, Zephyr, QMetry, Bitbucket)

  • Proficient in data profiling, root cause analysis, data cleansing & manipulation

  • Ability to organize and write clear test artifacts and documentation

  • High capacity for troubleshooting, problem solving, and working on multiple projects at one time

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with and/or keen interest in cryptocurrency

  • A recognised data quality certification (e.g. ISO 8000)

  • Exposure to CI/CD environments and Go programming language

  • Prior experience with SQL, Python, GitHub, and Apache Airflow

  • Familiarity with APIs, NoSQL databases and pipelines (Elasticsearch, MongoDB)

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or in any other related field
