About the Role

As a Senior Design Engineer on our Earner UX team, you would change how millions of Uber's Driver and Couriers make their living while powering Uber's global offerings. Your Design Engineering expertise, in collaboration with world-class designers, product managers, engineers, and other design engineers, will directly impact how we bring designs to code. What You Will Do

• Work in a Design environment where you challenge the norms and paradigms of user experience.

• Prototype difficult-to-visualize concepts to justify design and technical decisions.

• Connect people to ideas in a way that generates excitement.

• Learn new skills and emerging technologies (AI, VR, Autonomous, etc.) to explore engineering feasibility.

• Leverage data to identify and confirm bottlenecks in large-scale design and development workflows.

• Use engineering build tools, monorepo, and IDE to reproduce and debug UI jank in order to formulate cross functional solutions.

• Be the bridge between design and eng, and contribute to the overall quality and productivities of the business.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a similiar role public-facing consumer products

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong development skills using JavaScript, Compose, or SwiftUI.

• Writes well-summarized and tested code.

• Experience using data to form and validate strategic hypotheses.

• BA/BS/BDes degree in, Computer Science, Information Science, Interaction Design, or equivalent practical experience

• Experience with Design tools, such as Figma. Experience building tools and solutions such as Figma Plugins, assets management, etc.

• Experience conducting or participating in user studies.

• Has at least one developed design proficiency, such as interaction, motion, visual or UX design.

• Understand the product release cycle, making necessary tradeoffs and prioritization decisions to ship.

• Experience working with teams of Designers, Researchers, Data Science, and Engineers.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
