Renesas Director of Product Definition in San Jose, California

Director of Product Definition

Job Description

Renesas’s CMSD (Configurable Mixed Signal Division) is seeking a highly experienced product definer with expertise in high performance analog & data converter applications. CMSD develops highly configurable mixed-signal products (GreenPAKTM , GreenFETTM, PowerGreenPAKTM, and ForgeFPGATM families) for a wide range of applications such as consumer, industrial, computing, and automotive applications.

A successful candidate will have in-depth system-level understanding and knowledge about semiconductor, hardware, and software development for high performance analog and mixed-signal systems in consumer, industrial, and automotive applications. The candidate will be responsible for researching technical trends and defining innovative high performance analog devices. Also, he or she will work closely with customers’ system engineering, hardware, and software teams to help define and use Renesas’s products.

We are looking for someone who can build close working relationships with key customers as well as Renesas’s sales and FAE teams to define innovative products that can solve customers’ problems by understanding their needs or technical challenges customers are facing. The candidate will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies and taking the proposed product concept/ideas into a technical document (objective specification) that are the inputs to IC design teams.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Listen, fully understand, and anticipate the needs of our current and prospective customers.

  • Work with marketing team to define product roadmap and ensure that we have a plan for sustainable differentiation in the product category.

  • Work with design to conduct feasibility studies for high performance amplifiers, ADC, and DAC IP developments.

  • Identify new product ideas and convert them into objective specifications that can solve customer problems creatively (avoid non-competitive ‘me-too’ approaches).

  • Work closely with design, apps, marketing, sales/FAE and even customers throughout the product development process to ensure product development and customer’s engagement remains on track.

  • Own objective specifications and author preliminary datasheets.

Minimum Requirements :

  • BSEE/MSEE degree or advanced degree plus minimum 15 years of experience in high performance analog applications with consistent track record of results.

  • In depth knowledge in programmable gain amplifier, ADC, and DAC applications.

  • Intimate knowledge of various power conversion architectures is a plus.

  • Experience in proposing, defining, and developing semiconductor products.

  • Expertise in using lab equipment to debug and evaluate high performance analog products.

  • Ability to understand the customers’ problems and needs, and to propose a solution.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicts and meet deadlines.
