Micron's Global Procurement team is seeking a dedicated EDA Category Sourcing Manager to join our San Jose, CA, USA team. In this role, you will influence our product design flow and business success by crafting our procurement strategy for (EDA) tools. Electronic Design Automation (EDA) plays a crucial role at Micron. The company utilizes EDA software tools from a variety of suppliers, including key strategic suppliers and niche suppliers, at every stage of the product design flow. As the EDA Sourcing Manager, you will take charge of developing the procurement strategy for EDA suppliers. This will involve validating strategies with Global and Regional Category Managers, as well as collaborating with internal partners and customers. You will lead strategic sourcing initiatives, plan and implement negotiations using supplier and industry analysis, benchmarking, and cost management. By effectively managing the category strategy, you will also establish positive relationships with internal partners, striving for outstanding performance in terms of cost, supply, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

Category Management & Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop deep knowledge of the EDA ecosystem relevant to Micron’s design flow and understand the strengths and weaknesses of suppliers’ EDA products.

  • Implement processes to monitor collaborator happiness with key suppliers and drive continuous improvement.

  • Recommend metrics and targets to improve value, including ongoing cost savings, spend reduction, purchasing efficiency, and supplier management.

  • Analyze sourcing trends and make informed recommendations for assigned categories.

  • Participate in supplier segmentation and strategic goal setting.

Cost Management & Analysis

  • Identify and evaluate category-specific savings and revenue opportunities.

  • Drive category savings and revenue targets, and develop scorecard metrics.

  • Provide market intelligence and insights on category price trends to relevant internal collaborators.

  • Use should-cost models for assigned categories that are benchmarked and relevant to the global marketplace.

Negotiation

  • Lead or participate in negotiations for contract extensions, renewals, price renegotiations, and transfers.

  • Lead sourcing events and the RFQ process into bundled negotiations.

  • Incorporate savings targets and contract requirements into negotiations.

  • Develop a comprehensive contract strategy for suppliers in assigned categories and build, negotiate, monitor, and enforce contract terms and conditions.

  • Conduct strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiations, and cost management using supplier and industry analysis.

Business Partnering

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver strategic solutions.

  • Develop and maintain expertise in assigned spend categories by building relationships with key collaborators.

  • Drive a customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing Procurement.

  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships to improve cost-effectiveness, supply chain efficiency, and resilience.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in roles such as Design/Design Support, Test, Wafer Fab Production, or Category Supplier/Sourcing Manager in a related category.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering.

  • Strong negotiating and analytical skills!

  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to effectively manage relationships with various individuals involved.

  • EDA category sourcing or EDA-related technical experience is a plus.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$115,000.00 - $195,500.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
