Optum /Physician’s Medical Group of San Jose is looking for the best and brightest professionals to handle the business side of medical practice so “doctors can be doctors.” We are fortunate to have experienced unprecedented growth in the last few years – and we’re just getting started. As the largest Independent Physicians Association in Santa Clara County, not only do we partner with the most health plans, but we’re also the first, and only, Clinically Integrated Network in Silicon Valley.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM

Location: 2304 Zanker Rd, San Jose, CA

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Under the general supervision of the Network Operations Manager & VP, the Provider Relations Coordinator performs a variety of routine and semi-routine tasks requiring a thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. This position will provide administrative and operational support for the Provider Relations / Network Operations Department

  • Answer incoming provider calls, emails and other requests for assistance in a timely manner in accordance with departmental performance targets and provide excellent customer service while doing so

  • Assist providers (and members) in navigating PMGSJ and other health plan websites, encourage and reassure them to become self-sufficient

  • Assist providers and members with basic inquiries about claims, authorizations, benefits and other issues. This includes working in conjunction with internal departments

  • Escalate complex issues per department standards

  • Interacts positively with all departments

  • Properly document all calls/contacts as required by department standards

  • Build collaborative relationships with PMG Physicians and their office staff

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)

  • 1+ years of general office experience

  • 1+ years of healthcare industry experience

  • 1+ years of customer service experience with good communication skills working with others

  • 1+ years of experience using various computer systems software as well as Windows, MS Word and MS Excel

  • Ability to maintain member information in a confidential manner and always ensures HIPAA compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Managed care experience in areas of customer service, claims payment, claims resolution and/or provider service

  • Knowledge of CMS 1500 and UB 92 forms

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology, CPT & ICD 10 codes

  • Vietnamese language communication skills

California Residents Only: The hourly range for California residents is $16.54 to $32.55 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
