Cisco Safety Engineer in San Jose, California

As a Safety Engineer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our industry-leading networking products meet the highest safety standards. You will:

  • Innovate and design for safety, conducting rigorous product testing to 60950-1 and 62368-1 for regulatory certification.

  • Dive into PCB design layout and stack-up reviews, as well as schematic and product construction reviews.

  • Develop comprehensive safety compliance program plans, budgets, and schedules.

  • Lead internal investigations of safety compliance issues and propose effective mitigation plans.

  • Participate in audits to ensure adherence to environmental standards and accreditations.

  • Keep the team informed with status updates and test schedules during project meetings.

  • Communicate and resolve issues with the product development team.

  • File compliance reports with regulatory agencies (UL/CSA) and maintain meticulous documentation of compliance activities.

  • Stay ahead of industry changes and trends, assessing their impact on product shipments.

Your excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, make you a natural at meeting facilitation and decision-making. You are a team player who can manage multiple projects concurrently and have a good understanding of networking products.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 5-7 years of related experience.

  • Knowledge and expertise in industry standards and regulatory compliance requirements (EMC, Safety, Telecom, NEBS, etc.).

  • Program management skills, proficient with Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of PCB design/layout/stack-up.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Detail-oriented with good organizational and relationship skills.

  • Good understanding of networking products.

  • Proficiency in Python, SCPI, and other automated data collection techniques.

  • Hands-on experience working in a lab environment/electrical testing.
