We are seeking a Senior Security Design Engineer to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit. As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.

What You'll Do:

As a Senior Design Security Engineer 3, you will be an expert in designing and deploying various technologies to improve our customers' physical security posture along with managing technical requirements and leading the regional engineering team out of San Jose, CA.

This position requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of physical security solutions, design modeling and standards, implementing and improving design delivery processes, deploying tried and true, as well as cutting edge technology. You should be able to quickly and thoroughly understand customers’ needs and translate that into solutions designs that can be deployed at scale globally. This position is located in San Jose, CA and the candidate should be willing to relocate.

The responsibilities of this role include development of systems and project requirements as per clients’ needs, collaboration with clients, partners, vendors and internal teams to provide best-in-class solutions, high level of systems designs with required technical specifications, systems analysis reports and design development, the preparation of new builds and projects drawings, specifications, technology product selection, installation sequence planning, commissioning testing/commissioning scripts, process streamlining and improvements.

Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to:

  • Define and determine design projects scope of work based on customers’ needs providing high quality design solutions and incorporating new models to augment design standards

  • Review Request for Proposals (RFP) documentation, Statement of Work, and Client Specifications provided for new project bids.

  • Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) and Forecast Engineering Time for new project bids.

  • Develop procedures to validate system configuration, data input and data migration. Ensure high data quality ingestion in new and existing systems. Develop test plans, deployment/commissioning plans and administration procedures.

  • Developing and improving design standards.

  • Leading complex projects, mentoring and overseeing projects execution through design excellence processes, ensuring high delivery quality

  • Leading Pre-Installation Testing & Check Out of security equipment for various projects - coordinating schedule, checklist, and shipment due dates.

  • Design, sustain, and provide technical support for deployed security systems.

  • Provide training on newly deployed security systems to cross-functional teams, including the development of training documentation, videos, and other tools.

  • Collaborate with installation, deployment, administration and other cross-functional teams and Project Management to define standards, provide recommendations and guidance on solution deployments, resolve issues, and improve systems’ features, network security, and solution scalability concerns.

  • Collaborate with other engineering teams on new technology developments or changes in customers’ environments that may require new solutions.

  • Develop further expertise and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security engineering needs and requirements for system performance, installations, and sustainment programs and provide recommended improvements per industry best practices.

Specific position requirements are as follows:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering adjacent (e.g. MIS, CIS, Cybersecurity).

  • 5+ years of security systems and design experience

  • Hands on experience designing and deploying Physical Security Systems.

  • Experience with defining engineering scope of work and leading engineering and technical teams

  • Leadership and management skills

  • Experience with Systems Engineering and Administration including issue triage, problem resolution, and system data analysis.

  • System lifecycle support, including the maintenance of lab/evaluation environments and upgrade/migration plan generation and execution.

  • Experience designing and maintaining engineering solutions.

  • High level of expertise with Revit, AutoCAD or Navisworks

  • Reliable attendance at customer site during work hours required by customer.

  • Self-motivated and driven.

  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bonus Qualifications include:

  • Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security systems and applications like CCURE (Software House), Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, HID, Axis, 2N, Geutebruck and/or others. Candidate should have in-depth knowledge and understanding of how these systems operate and be familiar with flaws and improvements.

  • Working knowledge and/or certification for general purpose operating systems and virtualization platforms (i.e. Windows, Windows Server, Linux, VMware, CentOS, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).   Familiarity with physical security designs, standard operating procedures, and security operations.

  • Programming and scripting experience (i.e. Javascript, PowerShell, Python), experience with systems integration tools and protocols (e.g. APIs, SOAP and REST, XML/JSON), database design and query development.

  • Working knowledge and/or certification with communications and network protocols and services including TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, networking knowledge (TCP, UDP, RTP, RTSP and others).

  • Understanding of IT systems, OS functionality and server infrastructure. Corresponding vendor certifications include Associate and Professional certifications from Microsoft, VMWare, and Unix (any version).

Pay Range : $103,875 - $138,500
