Nutanix System Test Engineer 4: NCM in San Jose, California

The Opportunity

Nutanix, a leader in enterprise hybrid cloud, is looking to hire an experienced and innovative System Test Engineer with experience in Test Development and execution to qualify NCM products/features. The role is tasked with test planning, test case development, and test execution strategy to assess and improve the overall quality of our products in the multi-cloud management platform. This requires close collaboration with QA, Development, UI/UX engineers, and the PM team. The role encompasses influencing product design by leveraging broad knowledge of the product portfolio and ensuring a quality-first mindset.

NCM (Nutanix Cloud Manager) is a holistic multi-cloud management platform that makes it easier for enterprises to build, use, operate, and govern their applications and IT infrastructure. It offers intelligent operations, including monitoring, insights, and automated remediation. Self-service and orchestration streamline team tasks for scaling applications in hybrid clouds. NCM also enhances financial accountability, offering cost governance, resource optimization, and clear cloud metering and chargeback visibility. Moreover, it unifies security operations across clouds, automating incident response through intelligent analysis and compliance tools.

The team is a highly collaborative, skilled, and friendly group of engineers who foster a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, and ownership. This creates an environment where any problem can be solved efficiently and effectively. Several innovative solutions are built into our automation code that brings out more efficiency to the overall qualification process. We work a hybrid scheduled being onsite in San Jose, California Tuesday-Thursday.

Your Role

  • Develop test plan design and test case development for NCM products.

  • Define automation plan and test strategy for system test within release timelines.

  • End-to-end product quality ownership with all aspects of the test, automation, and delivery of NCM Products.

  • Identify and document edge cases, scalability issues, and performance bottlenecks within complex distributed systems.

  • Improve existing automated tests and overall automated test execution efficiency.

  • Ability to delve deeper into debugging product issues with development engineers.

  • Involve providing active feedback to improve the overall product experience.

  • Should be working in a highly collaborative environment involving global engineering teams.

  • Maintain a high overall quality index(QI) for the product/features at all times.

  • Debugging, filing bugs, and tracking them to closure.

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum of 7-12 years of experience in QA with System Test focus

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent field.

  • Good understanding of scalable and Linux-based distributed systems

  • Good working experience with Microservice Platforms and Cloud Infrastructure

  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

  • Working knowledge of containerized services, Docker, and Kubernetes is highly desirable

  • Good automation skills with Python

  • Working knowledge of virtualization - VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V

  • Familiarity with version control systems such as GIT, build management tools, and Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins/CircleCI

  • Detail-oriented, team player, self-driven, good verbal and written communication skills.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 136,800 and USD $ 273,600 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
