Jacobs Water/Wastewater Treatment Project Manager - Santa Cruz, CA in San Jose, California

Join our Advanced Water Purification Facility (AWPF) in Santa Cruz, CA as the Project Manager. The AWPF is a complex state-of-the-art facility comprising of Ozone, Membranes, Ultraviolet-Advanced Oxidation, and waste treatment processes. It is designed to treat an average of 1,500 acre-feet per year (AFY) or approximately 1.3 million gallons per day (MGD) of Secondary Wastewater Effluent to recharge the groundwater basin and combat seawater intrusion.

Jacobs has a unit opportunity in the Operations and Maintenance business group for a dynamic, savvy, and highly motivated Project Manager for a brand-new advanced water treatment facility (AWPF) in Santa Cruz, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for overall management and leadership of dynamic projects including profit and loss, permit compliance, process control, health and safety, quality, internal/external reporting, and employee supervision and management including staffing, compensation, training, performance management and workforce development. Working with other members of our team, you'll build and maintain positive business and customer relationships, and be responsible for the planning, organization, operations, maintenance, and improvement of the facility. You'll also be responsible for implementing health and safety policy and procedures and maintaining the operation process control including compliance with regulatory agencies.

The ideal Project Manager candidate shall possess a valid SWRCB Grade V Wastewater/Water Treatment certificate and a CWEA AWTO Grade 3 (or higher).

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of water and/or wastewater treatment plants operations.

• Proficiency with computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

• Experience working with, overseeing, and developing other employees and supervisors.

• Experience with SCADA systems.

• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

• Experience developing budgets, tracking actual expenditures vs budget and variance.

• Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong technical problem-solving skills

• Capable of working independently and maintaining an orderly schedule

• Understanding of the technical aspects of the AWPF

• Demonstrated interpersonal relations and personnel management skills.

• Experience developing and working within an approved budget. Specifically tracking costs, adjusting activities to stay on budget, and optimizing labor and materials.

• Proficiency in preparing operational reports for both internal and external clients.

• Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to water and/or wastewater system operations.

• Knowledge and ability to analyze data and maintain computer records.

• Knowledge of and ability to perform standard laboratory sampling and testing.

• Available for stand-by duty and emergencies as needed.

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals and/or SOPs.

• Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as chemical dosing, flow calculations, pipe or tank capacity.

• Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and factual variables.

Ideally, you'll also have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• Bachelor (BA/BS) degree in related field is preferred.

• Must have and maintain a valid CA Driver’s License

• Ability to travel 25% of the time.

• Ten (10) years’ experience in wastewater/water treatment operations or related field, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.

• SWRCB Grade V Wastewater/Water Treatment Certification

• Preferred CWEA AWTO Grade 5 or ability to obtain a AWTO Grade 5 within 12 months of hiring date.

The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
