Robert Half Accounting Manager/Supervisor in San Luis Obispo, California

Description We are in search of an organized and meticulous Accounting Manager/Supervisor to join our team in San Luis Obispo, California. In this role, you will independently perform complex accounting tasks and provide accounting support to major financial accounting areas like accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.

• Conduct staff training and education on policy and procedures related to Federal Acquisitions Regulations, ESOP Financial Awareness, GAAP requirements, timesheets, and expense reports.

• Reconcile and review accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance in accordance with GAAP requirements.

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries.

• Create error-free financial reports, including balance sheets, profit-loss statements, and statements of cash flow. This includes financial analysis, variance explanations, and key performance indicators.

• Support and improve financial analysis to review and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement in areas like accounts receivable, accounts payable, project accounting, KPIs, etc.

• Assist in the implementation of new ERP software.

• Develop new financial tools for upper management.

• Provide training opportunities for accounting staff and the company.

This role requires skills in Deltek, Payroll, SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley, US GAAP, General Ledger, Financial Analysis, Excel VBA, Monthly Financial Statements, and Profit and loss. Requirements • Proficient in Deltek, Payroll, SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley, US GAAP, General Ledger, Financial Analysis, Excel VBA, Monthly Financial Statements, and Profit and loss

• Demonstrable experience as an Accounting Manager/Supervisor

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting

• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail

• Ability to lead and supervise a team of accountants

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Ability to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used

• Strong understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

• Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information

• High attention to detail with an ability to spot numerical errors

• Good organizational and time-management abilities

• Degree in Accounting or Finance and a CPA certification will be considered a plus
