Position Description
TheDepartment of Mathematics (https://www.math.txst.edu/) at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a research specialization in Probability. The position will begin in Fall 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
develop and maintain an active research program;
teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses;
supervise student projects at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
develop graduate courses in probability; and
participate in service within the university community.
About the Department of Mathematics:
We are a growing department with a wide range of research strengths in Analysis, Topology, Algebra, Combinatorics, Statistics, Logic, and Mathematics Education. The department is excited to start its new Ph.D. program in mathematics in Fall 2025 to complement its Ph.D. program in mathematics education and its master’s programs. The department strives to create a welcoming environment that invites students from a wide range of backgrounds to major, and we particularly invite applicants who are excited to mentor a wide variety of students, both graduate and undergraduate. The department is dedicated to supporting its junior faculty through mentoring and university-wide programs.
Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field prior to employment.
Evidence of or potential for research excellence in Probability or Applied Probability. Assessment will focus on recent publications.
Evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching students.
A history of or potential for advising student projects at the graduate level.
A strong preparation in mathematics.
An ability to contribute to departmental missions.
Preferred Qualifications
Potential for research collaboration with current faculty.
Evidence of or potential to obtain external funding.
