Position Description
TheSchool of Journalism and Mass Communication (https://sjmc.txst.edu/) at Texas State University welcomes applications for the Assistant Professor of Practice in Electronic Media.
The successful candidate will have a solid background in television and video production, with the ability to teach multi-camera production in studio and field settings. The candidate will teach a variety of courses including Video Production, TV News, Visual Storytelling, Electronic Media as Entertainment, Writing for Electronic Media, and other classes in our program.
The selected candidate will oversee the School’s new TV studio in Live Oak Hall, assist with production projects, and collaborate with our student media operations and student organizations.
The Assistant Professor of Practice is a promotion-earning rank. The faculty member needs to be active in the field and participate in professional engagement activities.
All positions are subject to the availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
Professional experience in television and video production
A demonstrated record of accomplishments or activities in multimedia and video production
Skills and experience in camera operation, live directing, technical directing, audio operation, studio setup, lighting, and video editing
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in mass communication or related field
Three or more years of television production experience
Teaching experience in higher education
Experience working with student media organizations as advisor or co-advisor
Familiarity with news production systems such as ENPS , Adobe Suite, etc.
