What you will do:

  • Maintains landscaping at Main and South Campuses including the following: seeds and sods lawns, prepares areas for planting trees, bushes, and flowers; mows and trims grass; removes clippings, leaves, and debris from grounds area; prunes trees and bushes using hand and power tools; weeds and fertilizes; and applies pesticides and herbicides.

  • Removes snow and ice from parking lots, walkways, and steps either manually or using a tractor.

  • Maintains proper irrigation of flower beds, landscaping beds, and trees and grassy areas. Maintains potted plants located throughout the Main Campus, South Campus, and off-site buildings.

  • Cleans and details entrances including pressure washing and glass cleaning.

  • Operates small equipment to clean parking lots, following all safety precautions.

  • Performs monthly PMs on cars, trucks, garden tractors, snow equipment and accessories. Is willing to shovel or plow snow and salt walks when necessary.

  • Cleans, maintains and ensures proper storage of tools used in daily job. Reports any maintenance or repairs needed immediately.

  • Functions as a member of the Plant Operations team and assists when needed. Participates in staff meetings as required.

    What you will need:

  • Must have at least six months or one season performing related groundskeeping work. Home yard work is not qualifying experience unless it is for a very large and detailed landscape.

  • Must have knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and minor repair of tractors, cultivators, edgers, power lawn mowers, and other typical groundskeeping equipment.

  • Ability to work outdoors most of the time; may work in adverse outdoor conditions.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and be mobile.

  • Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.

  • State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license. Commercial driver’s license preferred. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.

  • Ability to read and understand simple oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency codes.

  • Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.

  • Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
