Actalent Mechanical Engineer in Sandusky, Ohio

Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to perform complex activities related to the design, testing, and evaluation of mechanical systems for food equipment machinery. You will interface with various departments and customers to define needs for new or custom features, create CAD layouts, and ensure the delivery of customer specifications. Your role will include preparing mechanical engineering studies, specifications, cost estimations, and solving unique field problems. This position involves travel to customer sites and a focus on design activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, and evaluate mechanical systems for food equipment machinery.

  • Interface with applications, sales, manufacturing, sourcing, and customers to define needs for new or custom features.

  • Create CAD layouts, design solutions, and perform calculations and regulatory work.

  • Prepare mechanical engineering studies, specifications, and cost estimations.

  • Solve unique mechanically related field problems.

  • Review the cost/value relationship of mechanical systems with manufacturing, sourcing, purchasing, and suppliers.

  • Travel to customer sites as needed (approximately 20% of the time).

  • Focus primarily on design activities (approximately 80% of the day).

Essential Skills

  • Experience in mechanical engineering, machine design, and mechanical design.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD 3D, and Autodesk Inventor.

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.

  • 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience in machine design.

  • Proficiency in 3-D CAD (Autodesk Inventor, or AutoCAD), PDM (Product Data Management) systems, and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity.

  • Comfortable working and communicating with customers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in the food processing industry.

  • Local to the area.

Work Environment

The role frequently requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. You will often use a computer keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Regular handling of machine parts is required. The work environment includes exposure to outside elements, including hot and cold weather. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.08
