BANK OF UTAH Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant in SANDY, Utah

Major Job Function:

Assists Loan Officers in marketing new business and maintaining relationships with current customers.  Assists the Branch as necessary in the origination/processing of mortgage loans.  Helps to maintains loan files to ensure files are in compliance and of investment quality. Helps coordinates loan closings. 

Experience/Skills necessary to perform duties:

  • 3-5 years' experience in the mortgage industry
  • Ability to market new business and maintain customer relationships
  • Broad knowledge of  FHA, VA, Conventional, Utah Housing and non-conforming loan programs
  • High School Education
  • Experienced in Windows based software
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detailed oriented 

Regular Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Loan Officer (LO) in marketing new customers
  • Assists LO in maintaining relationships with existing clients
  •  Forward facing to the borrower through the process of their loan.
  • Assist Loan Officer with reports, analysis and statistics to help maximize selling opportunities.
  • Learn and utilize various in house technical systems and programs to provide optimal support to the Loan Officer.
  • Performs initial file setup.  Input the application information into the system and send out initial application documents if needed.
  • Analyzes initial paperwork to determine what items are needed to proceed with borrower's loan request.  Procures missing items from the appropriate parties.
  • Determines when to request Automated Underwriting System (AUS) and requests AUS when applicable.  Examines AUS feedback to ensure data coincides with documentation in file.   
  • Keeps data in computer up to date on each loan file.
  • Determines with LO what type of credit report to obtain to properly verify credit and liabilities of the borrower.  Obtains and analyzes proper credit documentation. (MRA)
  • Assist with construction loans as needed -- Loan Approval Reports, Builder Information, Debt Sheet, Cost Breakdown, monitoring completion of construction inspections etc.
  • Communicates with "key" people (LO, borrowers, builders/realtors, vendors) involved with the file the progress, any questions, problems, etc. on the file.
  • Determines with LO priority of files and reviews files on a regular basis.
  • Coordinates loan closings with closing department, title company, borrowers, builders, realtors, etc., if needed.
  • Adhere to all federal and state compliance guidelines relative to retail mortgage lending.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The wage listed is within the range associated with this position. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.
