ASM Global Banquet Captain in Sanford Center - Bemidji, Minnesota

SUMMARY

The Banquet Captain assists in overseeing all banquet functions such as coffee breaks, buffets, plated dinners, or functions serving any food and beverage items. This position also oversees banquets in the absence of the Food Beverage Manager. This is a part-time position that is based on how many events are scheduled.

POSITION RESPOSABILITIES

  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, in English in a professional manner.

  • Supervises banquet servers.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to both work with and lead a team.

  • Have good communication skills with banquet staff, kitchen staff, and Food and Beverage Manager.

  • Staying in contact with the Event Manager during events to ensure that the client has everything needed.

  • Setting up and breaking down tables for events – tablecloths, water and coffee station, snack station, setting tables with napkins and silverware, etc.

  • Must have great time management skills and be ability to follow a set timeline or schedule.

  • Have flexibility during events if there are last minute changes.

  • Ability to make quick and accurate decisions based on the needs of the event.

  • Ensure front and back of the house are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.

  • Ensure all closing duties for staff are completed before staff sign out.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Assist in training new employees.

  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to push/lift/pull up to 50lbs.

  • Ability to stoop, lift, and reach repeatedly throughout a shift.

  • Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination.

  • Must be able to balance and have good dexterity.

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends, mid-shifts, early mornings.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 1 year in food service (preferably in catering).

  • Food handlers’ certificate preferred.

  • Experience leading a team preferred.

  • Attention to detail and detail oriented.

  • Reliable, punctual, great time management.

$20 per hour + % of Event Compensation!
