Health & Safety Specialist I

Role purpose

Contribute to the company's health, safety, environmental and energy function to minimize organizational hazards to the environment (across products, equipment and operational processes) and risk to employee health and safety. Participate in the development and direct related programs, policies and procedures, and ensure a connection between environment, health, and safety functions, supervising the joint work to assure compliance with organization and government environment, health, safety and energy standards.

Key responsibilities

Functional Strategy Formation

Contribute to the formation of one or more elements of functional strategy through specialist expertise and insights, to ensure that the strategy meets business needs.

Health, Safety, Energy and Environment

Monitor and review performance against Health, Safety, Energy and Environment (HS&E) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility; Take action improve performance and to resolve non-compliance with the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions.

Business Requirements Identification

Support collection of business requirements using simple document and workflow review to share with others for them to combine to clear requirements.

Information and Business Advice

Resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on policies and/or procedures, referring complex issues to others.

Regulatory and Compliance Management

Ensure regulatory compliance by producing comprehensive regulatory reports. Review and consolidate the information being reported and make sure it is accurate and timely.

Regulation and Registration

Support internal communication and work with others to build strong understanding of regulation and registration requirements.

External Communications

Execute a communications plan within established systems and procedures, in line with internal procedures and ISO 45k, 14k and 50k standards.

Leadership and Direction

Supervise a team performing routine work.

Budgeting

Develop and propose own performance objectives; take appropriate actions to ensure achievement of agreed objectives, using the organization's performance management systems to improve personal performance.

Provide instruction and informal advice to less experienced colleagues within the team to develop their skills.
