Description

Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting for an experienced and hands-on interim Controller to streamline, document, and establish our client's accounting processes in a small manufacturing environment. The Controller will provide strategic vision, operational accountability, and report directly to senior management based out of state, as the company was recently acquired. The timeline for this interim project is defined by the completion of the project milestones, we anticipate a duration of 4-5 months, fully on-site in Santa Barbara, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, reporting systems, and ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain internal control safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and both team budgets and actual expenses.

  • Collaborate with the executive management team to create and generate end-of-month reports, plus ad hoc financial reports as required.

  • Help reduce month-end close from three weeks to two.

  • Streamline and optimize efficient and secure financial processes, with clear documentation of those processes, primarily around inventory.

  • Direct and manage the company's overall accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. A CPA/ CMA certification is preferred.

  • Proven experience in accounting and financial management in a manufacturing company.

  • Excellent understanding of data analysis and forecasting.

  • Experience with Sage preferred, not required.

  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations

  • Expertise in the ability to streamline and implement new structures.

  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate direct reports.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.

  • The successful candidate will have proven experience in leading a finance team around best practice financial processes, will be a highly motivated self-starter and will be comfortable in a busy but cooperative environment.
