If you will be relocating for this position, some relocation assistance may be provided. #LI-Hybrid In this Santa Barbara-based role, the Sr. Manager of Audio Systems Engineering will lead a team of passionate audio system engineers who define, specify and tune audio systems. This highly cross-functional team collaborates closely with the acoustical engineering team and mic system engineering team, as well as other hardware teams (ID, mechanical, electrical, radio, etc.) to realize hardware requirements. Additionally, you'll work closely with product managers, DSP engineers, audio software engineers, content creators, and others. Ultimately, this team is responsible for the performance of the audio system needed to deliver the expected sound experiences of Sonos audio products for music and home theater playback. You will provide tactical and technical oversight to your team as well as contribute directly to product development efforts when necessary. You will be a champion for the sound quality of our products. This is a hybrid role - you are asked to regularly be in the office 2-3 times per week. What You'll Do Lead a team that specifies and validates the audio playback system of individual speakers to deliver best-in-class sound system quality. Drive definition and development of product sound experience performance targets. Collaborate with product management, DSP software engineers, acoustical engineers, embedded software engineers, ID, ME, EE, and others to develop products and experiences which balance customer needs with cross-functional requirements. Support alignment efforts between physical acoustic design (including system hardware architecture, mic system, and transducer development) and signal processing. Define and implement best practices and processes to accelerate audio system hardware development and DSP system specification and tuning Collaborate on advancements in subjective and objective evaluation of audio products. Lead the efforts to simulate, prototype and optimize products and product ideas, and support the prioritization of those efforts based on the capacity of your team and the needs of the broader Sonos organization. Facilitate communication and cooperation with partners throughout the company to focus the team on meeting near-term objectives while ensuring that team output and quality of work meet expectations and are aligned with necessary stakeholders. Be a strong bi-directional communicator, facilitating the sharing of information both from senior management to individual contributors, and back from the individual contributors to senior management. Skills You'll Need Basic Qualifications A BS in acoustics, engineering, physics, computer science or similar discipline. Experience in an engineering leadership position, with a track record of leading a high performing team including activities such as hiring, setting goals, and mentoring direct reports. A high degree of comfort leveraging all technologies involved in the audio playback signal chain, such as loudspeakers, amplifiers, and signal processing.
