Nvidia Functional Safety Manager in Santa Clara, California

At NVIDIA, we are developing the system, hardware, and software technology which enables autonomous driving. Our safety engineering team is currently looking for a Functional Safety Manager to help develop next generation automotive functional safety system-on-chip (SoC) products.

NVIDIA gives automakers, tier-1 suppliers, automotive research institutions, and start-ups the power and flexibility to develop and deploy breakthrough artificial intelligence (AI) systems for self-driving vehicles. NVIDIA's unified AI computing architecture enables training deep neural networks in the data center on the NVIDIA DGX-1™, and then seamlessly runs them on NVIDIA DRIVE AGX inside the vehicle. This end-to-end approach uses NVIDIA DriveWorks software and allows cars to receive over-the-air updates to add new features and capabilities throughout the life of a vehicle. We believe that realizing self-driving cars will be a defining contribution of our generation (e.g. traffic accidents are responsible for 1.25 million deaths per year worldwide). We have a proven track record

What you’ll be doing:

In this role, you will work closely with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to deliver the next generation of NVIDIA's Hardware Safety products. Specific responsibilities of the Functional Safety Manager include:

  • Project management of the safety product to ensure compliance to the ISO 26262 standard and on time safety case completion.

  • Primary point of contact for all safety related concerns during development and proactively working to resolve identified issues.

  • Collaborating across engineering domains (HW/SW Design, Systems) and geo-locations.

  • Collaborating with OEM, Tier1, and Tier2 partners to ensure that all aspects of the joint safety engineering development are carried out on time and according to plan.

  • Own the product assessments by customers and assessors to demonstrate ISO 26262 product compliance.

What we need to see:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) (or equivalent experience) in an engineering field with at least 6 years of meaningful experience in automotive development and integration for safety related hardware.

  • Background in project management for development which applies the system-V model using Microsoft project or similar tools.

  • Possess an understanding of ISO 26262 or other functional safety standard.

  • Experience working with assessors and customers in support of functional safety audits.

  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Willing to travel (up to 10% of the work time) if necessary.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Demonstrate successful project management for on time completion of a project with proven compliance to ISO 26262 or other quality standard.

  • Experience leading safety management efforts for automotive products at the SOC, Board or NDAS levels.

  • Relevant safety personnel certifications (e.g. CFSP, CFSE, or equivalent).

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • You have a proven record of achieving system safety certifications from third party assessors such as TUEV SUED, Exida, or equivalent
