Your Career

As part of the Network Security Networking and Routing team, you are responsible for developing and innovating solutions for Palo Alto Networks next-generation Firewalls and Prisma Access Cloud. Specifically in the areas of network security, high throughput networking, next generation cluster and data plane architecture. You will also be responsible for innovation, developing proof of concept and productizing 'new' ideas by implementing them and collaborating with team members.

As a member of a data plane networking software group, you will be responsible for innovating, designing and developing specifically in the areas of routing protocols, networking technologies and data plane architecture. You will take ownership for large software components, work with product management on real life customer requirements, apply your knowledge to functional design, utilize your programming skills for efficient and robust implementation, and interact with quality assurance and field support teams in the whole software development cycle. Your Impact

  • Responsible for development of NextGen Network Security Components and Protocols for State-of-the-art firewalls deployed at Enterprise, Data Center, Public/Private Cloud, and Service Provider environments

  • Development of features and architecture for NextGen Security Hardware and Virtual platforms in areas of Network Security/Threats, support routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, OSPFv3, PIM, IGMP, IS-IS, BFD) and stateful TCP/L4/L7 inspection

  • Product visionary, ideas on competitive edge, Effective decision maker, take ownership and independently drive, lead tasks and assignments

  • Develop scalable flow architecture for packet processing pipeline for multi-core platforms

  • Develop scalable software solutions for a distributed session architecture spanning across a cluster of firewalls

  • Work with multi-functional team members on feature requirements, including but not limited to Product Management, QA, Support, etc

Your Experience

  • BS Degree in Computer Science and 8+ years of work experience or and MS Degree in Computer Science with 6+ years experience or equivalent military experience required

  • Strong technical knowledge in computer architecture, systems engineering and operating systems

  • Multi-core and Multi-threading programming experience is a MUST

  • Strong in-depth C Programming experience

  • Knowledgeable and proficient coding skills in C++/Python

  • Strong experience in large scale software development on Unix/Linux & TCP/IP

  • Experience in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc) is desired.

  • Strong experience in packet processing, parsing, networking (L1-L7) protocols/architecture

  • Experience in data plane forwarding and any network processor programming

  • Can-do attitude and ability to take initiative and drive open issues to completion

  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with multi-functional groups

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $170,000/yr to $275,000/yr.
