GovCIO Windows/Linux System Administrator (Remote) in Santa Fe, New Mexico
Overview
GovCIO is currently hiring for seeking a skilled and motivated Windows and Linux System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AWS, Windows, and Linux systems administration, as well as strong database administration and management skills. This role is critical in maintaining our infrastructure and ensuring optimal performance and security of our systems. This is a fulltime opportunity and will be a fully remote within the United States position. Core hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM ET.
Responsibilities
Establishes and maintains smooth operation of computer systems (to include operating systems, software and hardware) in networked or stand-alone configurations, maintains system integrity, and upgrades systems and/or servers as required. May create and document new methods supporting network/system operations and implement changes to procedures. Consults with support teams, help desks, customers and other technical staff in the resolution of problems, coordinates and performs operation and/or maintenance activities for networks/servers, identifies recurring problems and recommends steps to reduce the severity or frequency of problems. May plan for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies, utilize system software to monitor the performance of system files, manage system data to maintain performance efficiencies and/or study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures.
System Administration : Manage and maintain Windows and Linux servers, ensuring systems are running smoothly and securely.
AWS Management : Deploy, configure, and maintain AWS cloud services, including EC2 instances, S3 storage, RDS, and other AWS services.
Scripting : experience automating backend end tasks with a scripting language such as bash, python, or PowerShell
Database Administration : Oversee database administration tasks including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, and performance tuning for SQL and NoSQL databases.
Monitoring and Maintenance : Implement monitoring solutions to ensure system health, performance, and security. Perform regular maintenance and updates.
Security Management : Implement and manage security protocols to protect systems and data. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Troubleshooting : Diagnose and resolve system, network, and database issues. Provide support for end-users and other IT team members.
Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's - in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, and 8+ years of commensurate experience.
Required Skills and Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Windows and Linux system administration.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
Strong database administration skills with SQL and NoSQL databases
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills and Experience
AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator).
Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Posted Salary Range
USD $94,000.00 - USD $118,000.00 /Yr.
