Ford Motor Company Staff Inverter HIL Engineer in Santa Fe Springs, California

In this role you'll operate and support Motor Control HIL system (on-site) which includes inverter and motor model on OPAL RT based HIL!

What you'll be able to do:

  • Create HIL test strategies, test cases, and scripts based on client, internal, and regulatory requirements.

  • Architect/Set up the HIL for the Motor Control. Be able to add plant model for inverter and motor.

  • Experience in IPM/PMSM/Induction motor model creation in simulink.

  • Set-up test equipment and run hands-on tests.

  • Support all release testing and bug triaging.

  • Help identify gaps in requirements and review the requirements for testability.

  • Work on setups to allow highly automated software release testing.

  • Create data acquisition systems for test data recording.

  • Utilize numerical data analysis tools to interpret test results.

  • Document results and provide reports.

  • Establish traceability using requirement management tools and version control.

  • Investigate test failures through analysis and failure reproduction.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • 10+ years of testing and validation experience.

  • Bachelor/master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or similar.

  • Knowledge of lab instruments such as DMM, Oscilloscope, power supplies, and DAQs

  • Experience with industry standard I/O and communications interfaces, e.g., CAN, CAN-FD, LIN and Ethernet.

  • Experience with Powertrain system interfaces.

  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in Python scripting for any automation or test scripts.

  • Knowledge of Motor Controls, Powertrain, Inverter.

  • Any Software development/programming experience.

  • Ability to break down requirements into tests

Preferred requirements:

  • Experience with OPAL RT and RT Labs is a plus

  • Knowledge/familiarity of standards ISO26262 and SAEJ1772

  • Dyno lab or Motor testing experience

  • Experience with automotive regulatory, environmental, reliability, and safety requirements. SAE, IEC, ISO.

  • Experience setting up the HIL on dSPACE/Typhoon/similar
