Join our Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) team for a 6-month Student Worker Program and help build the future of mobility! Immerse yourself in Ford's center of innovation and growth, working alongside top engineering, design, and software talent to create groundbreaking EVs and contribute to key technologies like batteries, charging, and recycling. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience and make a real impact on the automotive industry.

What you'll do…

As a team within Ford Model E, we are working on development of the on-board charger and battery management system hardware. As part of this team, you will

  • Learn how to model power stage of a power converter accurately,

  • Learn how to implement digital control algorithms within a simulation model,

  • Learn how to analyze the effects of converter topology, passive components, and control parameters on the performance of a power converter in terms of bandwidth, stability, and steady state error,

  • Collaborate with both hardware and software engineers for proper modelling of the power converter and grow expertise with working with industry experts.

What you'll have…

  • Pursuit of a master’s or PhD degree in electronics engineering

  • Familiarity with power electronics applications and circuit simulation software

  • Team player who can work in fast-paced, and multi-disciplinary environment.

  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills

  • Must be able to work from the Santa Fe Springs, CA campus.

  • Must be able to dedicate at least 3 months for this engagement.

Even better, you might have…

  • Familiarity with PLECS or Simulink,

  • Solid background on control theory and familiarity with concepts such as stability, bandwidth, gain/phase margin,

  • Prior experience with power converter modelling in simulation environment is a bonus.
