Amazon Account Manager, AWS Strategic Accounts in Santa Monica, California

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a sales professional to help manage our relationship with one of the largest media companies in the world. The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) will be responsible for providing segment based business leadership and management within the account. Your responsibilities will include identifying ways to improve outcomes for customers, driving revenue & adoption, and helping refine the AWS strategy within the Media and Entertainment vertical market segment. This role will own, define, develop, and execute a business plan and consistently deliver on revenue targets while thinking strategically about long term customer outcomes.

The responsibilities of a Strategic Account Manager include building relationships with various Adtech and Martech stakeholders, including CMO, VPs for Advertising and Measurement, and their peers in Product Management. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with other sales teams internally, including enabling solutions from Amazon Advertising. You will work closely with AWS Solutions Architects to develop and promote advertising technology solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the content publisher advertising landscape, with a background in business development, enterprise sales, or consulting with proven experience selling and implementing large-scale projects, a track record of thought-leadership on advertising and marketing industry trends and emerging technologies, and a comprehensive understanding of SaaS companies and ad tech partners used by media publishers/marketers. They should demonstrate an ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the skills to build and convey compelling value propositions by working cross-organizationally to build consensus. Finally, this person must have demonstrated an ability to work collaboratively to build processes and scale knowledge across internal teams to grow an organization’s sales capabilities.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own relationships with AdTech decision makers at various levels, in order to successfully build and maintain a sales pipeline.

  • Deeply understand AWS AdTech value proposition, and effectively articulate that value to our clients

  • Own a strategic client development plan in partnership with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales teams, product teams, ad-tech solutions architects, marketing, partner team, legal, support, etc.) that is built on the adoption of AWS and Amazon Advertising technology (e.g. clean rooms, ad serving, programmatic).

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of digital sales, account management, business development, or partner management experience

  • 5+ years experience and understanding of the retail and wholesale landscape

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience personally closing large complex deals end-to-end - Experience developing and executing sales strategies, tactics, plans, processes, systems and programs

  • Proficiency in MarTech platforms and solutions, such as CRM systems, marketing automation tools, content management systems, and analytics/reporting tools

  • Understanding of the AdTech ecosystem, including platforms like DSPs, SSPs, ad exchanges, and ad servers

  • Experience in integrating cloud services with AdTech and MarTech platforms to create end-to-end solutions

  • Expertise in data management, audience targeting, campaign optimization, and performance measurement for digital advertising

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. This position is eligible for variable pay via a sales compensation plan. These plans pay according to achievement level against sales targets and/or business objectives.
