Temporary Full Time | Day Shift | Monday-Friday

What will I do as a Unit Clerk for The Wesley Community?
Follow up on audits for medication refills and contact primary care physician if it is necessary to send or fax a script, notify family & residents who use outside pharmacy.
Weekly audits which include resident's emergency packets and update resident's medical information with any changes.
Answer the telephone, deliver messages to residents and families, etc., as necessary.
Complete all forms and requisitions necessary for continuity of administrative records and resident's care which includes making copies, filing medical documentations, scanning and updating information in MyUnity.
Complete necessary medical and administrative records upon the resident's admission and/or discharge to another facility. Notify the proper departments of resident's admission and/or discharge.
File and forward completed charts, face sheet of discharged residents to be off site storage.
Notify Omnicare for all discharge residents, discontinued medications and send all discontinued medications back to Omnicare.
Take all the non-Omnicare medications to Wesley Pharmacy to be disposed monthly and as needed.
Assist in arranging for and making appointments for diagnostic testing and therapeutic services including transportation, reminders and being available to escort residents to and from medical appointments.
Keep nurses informed of residents' appointments and all needs for escort prior to scheduling staff.
Direct visitors to resident rooms, office areas, etc. as necessary.
Monitoring and ordering office supplies for nursing and staff at pre-established quota levels and notifying Director of Assisted Living of supply needs on a weekly basis.
Responds to resident inquiries and assists as necessary with input from nursing staff as indicated.
Update staff scheduling, monitoring open shifts includes notifying staff by phone, email or text message as directed by Director.
Assist nursing with clerical duty including typing work assignments, schedules, payroll processing, etc. as required.
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with nurses, inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
Greet newly admitted residents and their family upon admission. Escort to apartment as necessary, review pharmacy policy, filling out admission pharmacy paperwork and reviewing medical appointment/ transportation process with new residents and their family.
Ensure that resident community physician sign communicated faxed notes, physicians' orders, etc., on a weekly basis and in accordance with current regulations and follow up for completion.
Report administrative problem areas to nursing staff and Director of Assisted Living.
Unit Clerk Requirements :
High School diploma or GED.
Associate degree/related coursework, preferred.
Medical and nursing terminology knowledge preferred.
Word processing skills preferred, and strong, accurate typing skills required.
Previous 2-3 years of work experience in a health care facility is preferred. RA, CNA, HHA experience a plus.
