Job Title: Slitter Assistant

Job Description

We are in need of a Slitter Operator/Slitter Assistant to join our team. The role involves setting up the slitter with micrometer/caliper for measurements, feeding strips of steel into the re-coiler, ensuring proper tracking of steel during processing, cropping off tail ends of heavy gauge finished products, logging all coils processed in the coil log, inspecting material for any defects, and lifting sheets of steel up to 100+ lbs. This position offers two shifts: 1st shift from 7am-3:30pm or 2nd shift from 3pm-11:30pm. Starting pay is $20 - $22, increasing to $24 after proven performance, and $25.50 - $27 once in a lead position.

Hard Skills

• Experience with a slitter machine for 2+ years

• Ability to setup slitter heads

• Read tape measure/caliper/micrometer

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Sauk Village, Illinois.

Work Environment

Steel processing center with large rolls of steel, overhead cranes, slitters, and banding machines. The center includes precision steel coil slitting with full loop capabilities, drag pad and roll tension stands for camber-free products, and packing lines for quick banding and packaging of finished products. Other machinery includes forklift operators, overhead cranes, grinders, band saws, blanking, and cut-to-length equipment. Steel toes are required. The facility employs 33 people.
