Catalyst Technologies (CT) is a market leader in the syngas value chain. It develops and supplies high-value, specialty process technology and catalysts for chemicals and fuels processing to enable our customers to operate efficiently, profitably and sustainably. The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer reports to the Site Quality and Analytical Services Manager as Quality Functional Lead in the management, maintenance and delivery of Quality Management Systems (QMS) that are used by manufacturing teams on site. The QA Engineer develops and implements changes and improvements to QMS procedures and documentation, to ensure conformance with the ISO 9001:2015 standard and assists internal and external auditors in assessing conformance. The incumbent leads and ensures the correct recording of Non-Conforming Materials and monitors progress of resulting Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). They progress the CAPA through the workflow by working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), employing root cause analysis methods and documenting conclusions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the QMS policies and other documentation

  • Approve documentation as the Quality Functional Lead.

  • Lead the Quality Management Review process.

  • Ensure conformance to relevant parts of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

  • Provide leadership, educate the Operations and R&D Teams and ensure conformance with Quality Plans and FMEAs

  • Create a positive culture and ensure conformance to the internal QMS is enforced and sustained.

  • Manage the Internal Audit schedule and assign actions from the process.

  • Conduct Internal Audits.

  • Represent the Quality function at Non-Conforming Material (NCM) dispositions.

  • Verify and ensure corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) are implemented and conformance sustained

  • Manage and assure the gauge calibration management system

  • Implement Quality tools like 6 sigma, 5Ys and root cause analysis.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and the implementation of best practice principles.

  • Direct the Quality Assurance technician in their daily tasks.

  • Ensure EHS requirements are met when performing all activities within the role.

  • Carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities where reasonably instructed

Requirements for the role:

  • Bachelors degree from a science/engineering field

  • Relevant quality certifications desirable.

  • Experience of working in a production environment is essential, preferably from a mechanical process manufacturing environment.

  • Experience of a problem-solving process using root cause analysis

  • Understanding of statistics and statistical control with respect to analysis of process/product data and deviation from specifications; demonstrated experience in analysis and review of data essential.

  • Experience in practicing LEAN manufacturing methods.

  • Experience of corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) systems and NCM disposition.

  • Experience in implementing Quality Management System improvements and able to lead development of training Material would be a distinct advantage

  • Role is primarily internal, however can be customer facing with presentations to customers if external audits are a requirement.
