Zurich is currently searching for an Application Manager to work out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, IL as a key member of the Information Technology team, supporting our Enterprise Solutions area within the Application Delivery department. The Application Manager will lead/manage a team of IT specialists in the Enterprise Solutions area to develop and implement IT business processes and manage performance across all activities, in order to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance.

The Application Delivery Manager may also be responsible for:

  • Assessing performance of direct reports at mid-year and year-end and ensure direct reports have meaningful on-boarding, individual development plans (IDPs) and development actions

  • Providing regular, actionable coaching and feedback to employees to review progress, recognize accomplishments, support development and/or improve performance

  • Managing multiple vendors - Testing, IT support and Product Vendor and in reviewing statuses with Vendors and providing direction

  • Managing Release, Compliance, Base cost and applying lean initiatives to reduce the overall TCO

  • All aspects of the development and implementation of assigned IT enhancements, compliance and regulatory changes and acts as a single point of contact for those initiatives

  • Taking business ask from original concept through final implementation utilizing the Agile methodology, and interfacing with all areas affected by the project including end users, executive leadership, vendor teams, computer services, and client services

  • Defining project & enhancing scope and objectives, and developing detailed work plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status

  • Providing critical project and enhancement updates to business leadership via steering committee meetings, including status, resource planning, production metrics and assists with prioritization of new requirements

  • Ensure compliance with appropriate internal control and regulatory requirements for both internal and external suppliers, and provide assistance and support for audits, where applicable.

  • The ability to negotiate with a product vendor on vendor contracts and measure their performance through various Service Level Agreements / Credits

  • Prioritization of work with different business stakeholders and business units

  • Making systematic and rational judgment during outage or release implementation issues

  • Demonstrating an understanding of industry trends, commercial insurance business concepts, opportunities and constraints in the environment

  • Creating an environment of trust and cooperation through an open exchange of ideas towards achieving team goals

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area

Preferred:

  • People management experience

  • Agile
