Nestle Maintenance Technician (All Shifts) Schaumburg, Illinois
Our Schaumburg, Illinois Food Manufacturing Facility is seeking an experienced and skilled Electro-Mechanic Maintenance Technician who can work independently to support factory shift maintenance needs.
This person will serve as a plant maintenance technician in repairing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and maintaining various food processing and packaging equipment to determine nature and extent of repairs or alterations required. They also complete preventative maintenance assignments, respond to line and equipment calls, support building and grounds keeping needs. This position requires weekend and holiday shifts.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU:
Available Shifts:
1st Shift 6am to 2:30pm
2nd Shift 2:00 to 10pm - $0.75 shift differential
3rd Shift 10pm to 6:30am - $1.25 shift differential
Hourly pay of $25 - 32/hr depending on knowledge and demonstrated skill

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH:
Operates, troubleshoots, and maintains mechanical and electrical automation equipment including motor control circuits, drives, and PLC systems.
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the assigned area to understand the equipment and develop Preventive Maintenance (PM) plans to minimize downtime
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, rebuilds, and calibrations according to work orders in CMMS.
Monitors equipment performance during production start-up, changeovers, and new installs.
Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed and the highest standards for quality, safety, and compliance are promoted.
Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), USDA, and OSHA policies.
REQUIREMENTS:
5 or more years of previous maintenance experience
High school diploma or GED preferred
Trade School Diploma or Certifications desired
Ability to speak, write, and understand English
Demonstrated sense of urgency in completing tasks and comfort working in a high-speed production environment
Strong mechanical and electrical skills; PLC experience desired
Experience with CMMS or maintenance work order systems needed, SAP experience preferred
Ability to work independently or with a team and communicate effectively
Solid problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to coach others
Willingness to work internally and externally in diverse environmental conditions
Is able to work at least 40 hours per week on an assigned shift with some daily overtime. weekend overtime required
Is able to function effectively as a team member or in one-on-one situations, and with minimum supervision
Must be able to read and understand the ladder use policy to safely climb and descend ladders
Able to lift/carry components up to 50 lbs a distance of 100 yards
Must be able to go up and down 30 stairs, carrying up to 50 lbs
Able to work overtime, irregular hours, holidays, or rotating shifts required
SKILLS:
Schematic / drawing interpretation
Blueprint reading
Electrical equipment repair, VFDs, multi-phase electric motors, and relays
TPM/Lean concepts focusing on continuous improvement and teamwork / creative problem solving to identify and perform equipment improvements
Hydraulics
Pneumatics
Mechanical repair and replacement of machine components
PLC logic controls, motor control logic
In depth knowledge of Root Cause analysis
The approximate hourly pay for this position is $25.00 to $32.00/hr. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
