Managing Direcotor, Regional Market Executive

The Managing Director, Regional Market Executive (RME) is in the Branch Network, which is primarily responsible for providing Wealth Management services to individuals and families to meet their financial needs. The Regional Market Executive will ensure and lead a strong culture of compliance, risk management and supervision. They will provide sales, service and risk leadership for a geographical area and will lead a team of Branch Managers and their teams within a specific geography. As the leader of a team of Branch Managers, the Regional Market Executive will support the creation and execution of effective local business plans, designed to deliver against Schwab’s strategic priorities and plans for accelerated growth. RME’s assist the District Market Executive (DME) in executing the branch network strategy, supporting the branch real estate strategy, and focusing on the Schwab brand. Regional Market Executives also own the EDGE coaching process for Regional plan.

Working closely with their team, the Regional Market Executive will inspire a shared vision providing success and growth of the entire branch network. The Regional Market Executive will be expected to successfully lead multiple, diverse geographies within their area and, to partner with managers to advance Schwab’s reputation and brand awareness. The Regional Market Executive will act as a coach to a team of coaches, ensuring appropriate focus on acquisition, retention, growth and staff development through coaching, performance management, and employee engagement. This frequently requires the ability to lead teams virtually.

Key Outcomes:

Leadership

  • Drive a culture of Compliance and Risk Management.

  • Represent the Schwab brand and be a brand ambassador in all interactions.

  • Act as a proponent of change, championing major corporate-wide initiatives across the region and owning the region through the full change management process.

  • Support the team in integration of corporate-led initiatives to local plans, being responsible for the message and translating it into his or her own leadership message and voice.

  • Deliver consistent execution of internal and external sales activities and strategies including design, implementation, training, communication and assessment of initiatives, contests, incentives in support of retail and organizational sales goals.

  • Lead and inspire staff through effective communication and coaching, creating a culture of success and trust.

  • Lead by example and demonstrate behaviors consistent with Schwab’s values. Earn and be worthy of our clients’ trust.

  • Lead their assigned market in employee engagement, focusing on achievement of positive results and concrete action plans to address areas of opportunity.

  • Coordinate and generate active participation through all communications, including Area sales meetings.

  • Lead authentically, make tough decisions and think beyond the immediate issue at hand.

  • Through collaboration, effective communication and partnership, network with employees within the region and externally across regions/departments to resolve issues, gain needed information and influence action taken and outcomes.

  • Connect with a flexible and adaptable leadership style to best connect with staff, peers, fellow leaders and clients.

  • Build and develop a hard-working team demonstrating complementary skills and abilities. Create a sense of community across the area, resulting in sharing of standard methodologies.

Set Direction, Create a Business Plan and Execute that Plan

  • With an owner approach for the designated area, supports the creation of comprehensive local business plans focused on growth of market share and client assets, based on overall Schwab strategy and overall Branch Network business plan.

  • Establish clear goals and performance expectations and consistently communicate progress against those goals for designated locations.

  • Implement and assess campaigns to enhance sales results.

  • Commit to operational improvements leading to improved efficiencies and greater client experience. Encourage idea generation and innovation.

  • Practice effective resource management, fully using our current investments and advocating for high value additions.

  • Grow, enhance and use internal/external business partnerships to influence business success.

  • Hold themselves and their teams accountable for maintaining current knowledge of competitor and industry activity, patterns and trends (via advertisements, word-of-mouth, recruitment activities, community involvement, mystery shopping) to advise local actions and aid communications.

  • Support Branch Manager’s responsibility for local leadership and uniqueness of that market, helping them optimize local opportunities.

Talent Management

  • Develop team members and cultivate their professional growth on an ongoing basis through effective and regular formal and informal coaching.

  • Challenge, mentor and develop leadership talent, acting as a coach or consultant to direct reports.

  • Actively and consistently recruit top talent and build succession plans for critical roles.

  • Retain top talent through focus on employee engagement, creation of a positive work culture and a strong orientation to personal growth and development.

  • Hold employees accountable for achievement of quantitative and qualitative measures.

  • Show employees they are valued through appreciation and recognition.

Risk Management

  • Proactively anticipate audit and compliance issues and work closely with Supervision and Controls Team to understand business risks.

  • Ensure Branch Managers listen and observe FCs sales practices to gain full understanding and provide ongoing risk management and sales coaching.

  • Be a good steward of the Schwab brand and stockholder value.

  • Be familiar with the rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to his/her business unit and seeking compliance or legal advice when vital.

  • Implement and carry out Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. policies, procedures and supervisory systems for all the individuals subject to his/her supervision (including individuals who are supervisors). This includes compliance with The Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. compliance manual, business unit specific policies/procedures, federal/state securities laws/regulations and applicable rules of FINRA, NASD, MSRB, CBOE, NFA and exchanges of which Charles Schwab & Co Inc. is a member.

  • Engage in reasonable efforts to ensure all individuals, including supervisors, subject to his/her supervision are qualified by virtue of experience, licensing and training to carry out their assigned responsibilities.

  • Distribute new and amended policies/procedures as they are published and provide training on such when needed.

  • Implement appropriate security measures to safeguard Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. books/records and proprietary and customer information.

What you have

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years’ of sales and leadership experience in a financial services capacity of similar scale and complexity.

  • Prior sales management experience as well as exposure to other branch functions including Operations, Technology, Human Resources, Supervision, Compliance, etc.

  • Ability to build trust and cultivate partnership, resulting in a positive and effective culture within locations, as well as across the larger team

  • Consistent record of building and developing strong and collaborative teams through engagement and collaboration

  • Ability to set clear expectations and hold teams accountable for significant results, raising the team up to their full potential through coaching and support.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Active and valid Series 7; 9/10; and series 66 required.

  • Active and valid Series 24 preferred
