Perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. Includes Service Shops. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.). This job could require flexible hours.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Manage an operation, business, unit, or part of a production facility in order to reach defined targets in quality, cost, delivery and safety. Ensure continuous business improvement according to benchmarks and standards.

• Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.

• Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

• Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles.

• Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.

• Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.

• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

• Develop work instructions, methods and related procedures for generator rotor wind

• Support operator training and operator qualifications

• Support new unit or component product qualifications as needed.

• Lead efforts to ensure operator safety including ergonomic solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering)

• 3 years of Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future

• This position is 100% onsite in Schenectady, NY at the GE Vernova Plant

• This role covers 2nd shift operations

Desired Characteristics

• Prior leadership experience

• Knowledge and experience of generator rotor wind and test on new units or repair generator rotors

• Basic understanding of electrical principles

• Engineering experience in industrial/manufacturing environment

• Experience with customer owned products that require repair

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

• Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

• Established project management skills.

• Ability to influence others and lead small teams.

• Familiarity with basic lean principles – takt/cycle and 5S

Pay Transparency

The starting base pay range for this position is $90,400.00 – 100,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. ​ This posting is expected to close on May 23, 2024, or thereafter.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
