Job Summary

Location: Union College, Schenectady, NY

Join our dynamic culinary team at Union College in the heart of Schenectady, NY-a mid-size private institution with a vibrant student body of 2300 and a dedicated staff of around 130. We oversee two all-you-care-to-eat cafés, a bustling Starbucks, multiple small retail operations, and a robust catering service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and actively participate in all aspects of food preparation, ensuring adherence to the highest quality standards.

• Collaborate with the culinary team to innovate and refine menus, incorporating local food products for freshness and sustainability, and implementing procedural and production adjustments to enhance operational efficiency and meet revenue goals.

• Manage comprehensive culinary functions including inventory control, ordering, receiving, and cost-effective strategies for menu development, purchasing, and inventory management, ensuring compliance with Serve-Safe sanitation and safety standards.

• Undertake additional duties as required to support the ongoing success of our dining services.

Qualifications:

• Culinary Degree Required; Associates Degree Preferred.

• 3-5 years of experience in a high-volume culinary setting, with a strong background in catering.

• Deep understanding of current food and catering trends, with a commitment to high-quality production, sanitation, and presentation.

• Experience in leading and motivating a diverse team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
