Ellis Medicine Financial Analyst - Budget & Cost Accounting in Schenectady, New York

The Financial Analyst – Cost Accounting / Budget is responsible for preparing the cost accounting reports by utilizing, updating and maintaining the Hospital’s cost accounting computer systems, and supporting other functions of the budget department including the annual budget process and various monthly reports.

SECTION II

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or Finance.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years preferred of cost accounting or financial analysis / budget process experience, preferably in a health care or hospital setting. Good oral and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving skills, and strong computer experience required.

SECTION IV:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Plays a major role in planning and implementing of the annual budget

  • Assist departments in completing their annual budget

  • Monthly actual to budget variance analysis

  • Responsible for various other monthly reports/analysis

  • Responds promptly to customer requests, provide excellent customer service and collaborates with other departments throughout the organization.

  • Collect accounting and statistical information necessary to utilize the cost accounting system.

  • Input data into the cost accounting system and generate needed reports, update any changes that the departments have submitted.

  • Implement a procedure to notify reimbursement of any statistical changes that need to be incorporated into the Cost Reports, communicate changes to Finance on a monthly basis and update file to reflect changes.

  • Updates any special studies that have been set up to allocate costs to specific charge codes.

  • Assist departments in analysis of reports and identify issues of concern.

  • Educate departments as to variable, fixed, direct and indirect costs, evaluate departmental processes and procedures and provide additional training.

  • Complete required training as assigned.

  • Additional duties as assigned

    Salary Range: $24.75-$36.53 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
