Union College Visiting Assistant Professor of French in Schenectady, New York

Union College invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in French and Francophone Studies in the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures for two academic terms, beginning January and ending mid-June 2025. Review of applications will begin on September 15th and continue until the position is filled. Applications received by September 30th will receive priority consideration.

Position Description

The successful candidate will be expected to teach two language courses per term, along with supporting our co-curricular programming. We seek a colleague with demonstrated excellence at basic and intermediate levels of language instruction (native or near-native fluency in French is required). We seek a candidate with a student-centered, communicative approach to language pedagogy. Evidence of co-curricular engagement , including planning cultural events, a plus. Ph.D. and ABD candidates are encouraged to apply.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $46,000-$48,000. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
