What The Role Is

The Senior Analyst, Data & Risk Analytics will reside within the middle-office function and play a key role in providing data management and risk analytics covering energy marketing and trading activities across Clearway’s portfolio of renewable generation assets. This position will initially focus on working with key constituents to ensure the successful implementation of an Energy Trade Risk Management (ETRM) system. Once implemented, the role will provide ongoing solutions for the ETRM as needed, while providing solutions, architecture leadership, consultancy, expertise, and guidance to the Clearway Credit & Energy Risk team. This is a highly visible role for a detail-oriented individual to excel within a growing risk management group. The position will report to the Director of Credit and Energy Risk.

This is a hybrid position with a strong preference for our Scottsdale office location.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Establish and maintain processes to identify, analyze, and improve data management and analytics for the middle office in support of Clearway Energy’s renewable energy activities.

  • Work collaboratively with commercial analytics and IT to ensure the successful implementation Energy Trade Risk Management (ETRM) system.

  • Once implemented, help provide ongoing support as needed for the ETRM including enhancements, inquiries, documentation, etc.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards using Spotfire and PowerBI to help interpret and visualize risk metrics and risk-related reporting.

  • Utilize strong technical and data analytics skills to assist in a variety of areas including risk optimization, tool building and troubleshooting, and preparation of regular monthly reports including Loss Limit reporting.

  • Develop storytelling narratives and presentations in order to communicate technical and complex risk analyses clearly and concisely to senior leadership and other internal stakeholders.

  • Collaborate effectively within the Credit & Energy Risk Management team and other departments to address business and operating requests, including analytics, reporting, and due diligence.

  • Support reporting requests from Clearway’s senior management team.

Governance, Compliance & Administration:

  • Work closely with the Energy Risk Committee to shape and ensure effective governance of energy risk management policy.

  • Work with Commercial, Legal, Settlements, Accounting, and Internal Audit to ensure compliance with key controls.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Minimum of 4+ years of energy industry experience.

  • Strong data/financial acumen and analytics background.

  • Working knowledge of credit, market, and operational risk.

  • Experience developing and deploying financial models in MS Excel using VBA.

  • Experience developing and maintaining BI tools.

  • Ability to plan/manage multiple priorities while committed to deadlines in a demanding environment and work overtime when required.

What Would Be Nice

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field.

  • Power BI or Spotfire experience is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of energy markets and traded products.

  • Fluency in Python and SQL with experience in other programming and supporting languages (R, JavaScript, C#, HTML, CSS, etc.).

  • Prior experience working directly with an energy trade risk management (ETRM) system.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations

$97,000—$130,000 USD
