The Boeing Global Warehousing and Distribution organization is seeking an Experienced Packaging Engineering Specialist (Level 3) to support the Seattle Distribution Center. With a focus on innovative services, the successful candidate will support Supply Chain stability and first time quality by ensuring all Boeing products are preserved, packaged, handled, and transported properly until required for use.
This position is based out of Seatac, WA.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options
Position Responsibilities:
Document & retain packaging instructions and coding of packaging procedures
Maximizes efficiencies and implements improvements for cost effective worldwide distribution and storage by considering practical packaging and/or handling applications
Provides logistics support by developing warehouse material flow, equipment layout and capital budgets for project execution
Assists in calculating volume, storage requirements, quantity and type of storage and handling equipment needed for high efficiency, low-cost operations
Oversees the training and compliance associated with the receiving, storing and shipping of hazardous materials (dangerous goods)
Evaluates, classifies and develops packaging instructions for hazardous materials
Perform testing of Dangerous Good packaging systems, including development of/maintenance of test reports.
Provide re-certification of all tested Dangerous Goods packaging systems as mandated by DOT regulations
Plans the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and International regulations
Maintain logistics systems; coordinate maintenance and repair of packaging assets and equipment
Evaluate, classify, design, develop, and test packaging for parts protection
Provides packaging information and assistance, as needed, to Suppliers of Boeing Spares
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience reading, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
3+ years of experience with military and commercial packaging, handling, shipping and transportation of equipment and Dangerous Goods
3+ years of experience with SAP
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Degree or certification in packaging, supply chain, material science, environmental safety, or related field
Access or advanced excel skills
Advanced skills in hazardous identification and dangerous goods in transportation 49CFR and IATA regulations
Experienced using Mil-Std-2073 military packaging and marking codification
Typical Education & Experience:
- Typically 6 or more years’ related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.
Relocation:
This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Summary pay range: 96,050 - 129,950
