Google AI Protection Analyst in Seattle, Washington

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.

  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

  • Experience with SQL, R, Python, or other programming/scripting languages to manipulate datasets.

  • Experience processing natural language and Large Language Models (LLMs).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related field.

  • 5 years of experience in a large-scale data analysis.

  • Experience in one of the following domains: anomaly detection, security threats analysis and investigation, time-series analysis, metrics and reporting, security threat, or abuse detection.

  • Experience in any one programming language (e.g., Go, R, Julia, C/C++, Java).

  • Ability to work non-standard hours as needed to support escalations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. Your deep problem solving skills, understanding of potential societal harms, and passion for user protection will help the teams to solve the classes of challenging problems in AI safety and misuse at Google scale.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Identify and investigate possible failure modes for GenAI products on a broad range from sociotechnical harms to misuse.

  • Perform in-depth analysis of risks, measure, and mitigate AI-related risks, using benchmarking, evaluations, dataset design, and usage monitoring. Prepare analysis reports and present findings and solutions to stakeholders with exceptional written and verbal communication.

  • Partner with incident response teams to investigate and address safety violations swiftly. Triage issues and provide insights to guide response and remediation actions. Effectively collaborate with other Google teams to ensure that the issues are understood and solutions are adopted.

  • Educate cross-functional teams about Gen AI safety risks and advocate for responsible design principles. Promote a culture of safety and user trust throughout the product development process.
