We are looking for a motivated Applied Scientist with experience in machine learning (ML) and causal inference in relation to marketing or other business applications, to be part of a team that innovates, iterates, and solves real-world problems in the realm of Prime Video marketing. In this job, you will take ownership in the development of one of our causal inference models. You will join a cross-functional team, working closely with other scientists, economists, and data engineers on a daily basis. The scope of this role will include developing infrastructure in AWS to automate the routine functions of the model, innovating model enhancements, and working with peers and stakeholders to derive insights from the model results.

Key job responsibilities

  • Apply state-of-the-art Machine Learning (ML) and Causal Inference algorithms, to optimize marketing investment decisions at Prime Video

  • Own and improve insight generating processes for the production models

  • Establish and drive data hygiene best practices to ensure coherence and integrity of data feeding into production ML models

  • Collaborate with colleagues across science and engineering disciplines on infrastructure development that enables faster turnaround of marketing insights

Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports – including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll and MGM+. All customers, regardless of whether they have a Prime membership or not, can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store, and can enjoy even more content for free with ads.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or equivalent quantitative field

  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

  • Experience with SQL and an RDBMS (e.g., Oracle) or Data Warehouse

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code

  • Have publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
