Grand Central Bakery Assistant Packaging Manager - Night Shift in Seattle, Washington

Grand Central Bakery is looking for an experienced manager to help lead our Bread Packaging (Expediting) team. We're a mission driven organization dedicated to serving high-quality, sustainable, and delicious food while providing outstanding customer service. 

The Expediting Assistant Manager (EAM) supervises the bread packaging (expediting) team. This is a night shift position. Developing skilled and passionate workers whose mission is to provide fantastic customer service and expedite delicious products safely and efficiently is a core responsibility. 

The EAM is directly responsible for all expediting operations during their shift including staffing, training, quality control, communication, food safety, inventory management, facilities, and maintaining employee morale within the parameters of Grand Central’s mission and financial goals. The EAM is expected to customarily and regularly provide feedback and make recommendations for hiring, performance management, and dismissal decisions. 

Location: 21 S. Nevada St., Seattle, WA 98134

Rate of Pay: $28.96 per hour

Schedule: Nights, start time between 5pm and 7pm.

As a full-time, non-exempt employee, the Expediting Assistant Manager typically works 5 nights a week with flexibility to adjust schedule around special projects and may be required to work extra hours and/or nights on an irregular basis due to unforeseen circumstances and emergencies. Integral to their team, the Expediting Assistant Manager balances administrative duties with regular time scheduled on the floor as a high functioning crew member.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required.

  • English/Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.

  • Maintains food handler’s card – new hires are expected to have a valid card by their first date of work.

  • Knowledge of all health department regulations concerning food production and handling required. 

  • Must be able to add, subtract and multiply with ease and accuracy.

  • Intermediate computer skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, or comparable programs required.

  • 2 or more years’ experience working in a wholesale warehouse or delivery environment required.

  • 1 or more years of management or leadership experience required.

  • A passion for delicious food and exceptional customer service required.

  • HACCP experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with forklift and pallet jack preferred.

Physical requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Delivery procedures require a high level of repetitive motion involving hands, wrists, arms and back.

  • This position may be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. during their normal duties.

  • This position works in a building shared with production facilities is constantly exposed to wheat flour dust and other grain dusts (rye, corn, oat).
