Job Description

This position is a Microsoft technology expert with comprehensive knowledge, systems thinking, and experience developing technical architecture and solutions within a complex organizational and policy framework that requires reliable, cost-effective solutions including those within the Azure cloud ecosystem and in support of identity, privacy, access management, integration, and system management. They will resolve complex design, architecture, and integration problems involving multiple interdependent components. The position will interpret and apply complex business rules and regulations. The position must demonstrate maturity and agility in making decisions, facilitating collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, using facts as well as heuristics and probabilities. This position is responsible for Microsoft technology decisions broadly affecting how our client's business is conducted within the context of enterprise architecture practices and strategic goals for our client. Other Microsoft technology engineers consult with this position thus it is imperative to foster a culture of support and mentorship, focus on nurturing strong, trust-based relationships and embodying a mindset that prioritizes guidance and assistance.

Skills and Requirements

- Bachelors Degree in computer science, engineering or a related field or experience

- Five years of progressively responsible experience in cloud information technology systems architecture, engineering, implementation, and support of enterprise-wide technology solutions and services.

- Azure cloud experience in evaluating, architecting, and integrating Microsoft technologies such as:

Copilot, Automation, Device management, Microsoft Identity, Client authentication, Virtualization, Networking, Monitoring, Product update management, Developer tools, Microsoft Database, Server management, Application management, and/or Security Azure cloud technical leadership role with demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and guide others to learn complex technical skills

- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new technologies, methodologies, tools, etc

- Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.

- Ability to work effectively in a complex organization with minimal direct supervision and competing priorities from multiple stakeholders across all levels in the organization. - Masters Degree in computer science or a related field.

- Prior experience in a research university or other academic institution

- Automation - PowerShell, Bicep, Runbooks, Python, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager

- Device management technologies - Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Jamf, Windows Client OS

- Microsoft Identity - Entra ID, Active Directory, PIM, Entra ID Connect, Microsoft Identity Manager, Entra ID access reviews, Entra ID application integration

- Client authentication technologies - LDAP, Kerberos, Shibboleth, SQL login, Basic authentication (over SSL)

- Virtualization technologies - VMWare, Hyper-V, Azure VMWare Solution, Azure VMs

- Networking technologies - Azure Networking, appliance firewalls, Windows Firewall, Azure Network Security Groups (NSGs), VPNs & Routing and Remote Access Service, DNS & DDNS

- Monitoring technologies - Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, System Center Operations Manager, Datadog, Solarwinds, Application Insights

- Product update management - Azure Update Manager, Windows Update for Business (WUfB), Windows Server Update Server (WSUS)

- Developer tools - Azure DevOps, Azure DevOps Server, Azure Pipelines

- Microsoft Database technologies - SQL Server, Azure SQL Managed Instances, Azure SQL Database, Microsoft Access

- Server management technologies - Windows Server, F5 BigIP, Azure load balancer, Azure Storage, Azure Backup, Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), Veeam

- Application management technologies - IIS Web services, Certificates, Azure App

- Security technologies - Antivirus, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Defender

- Experience with ITIL framework, roles and ITSM practices null
