Amazon Business Analyst II, Global Product Verification in Seattle, Washington

Amazon is seeking a Business Analyst to drive large scale projects, programs, and technical initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for converting data into actionable business insights. The ideal candidate is an analysis expert who leverages a variety of data platforms and analytical tools to provide timely, meaningful, and consumable information. They build deep contextual and domain knowledge, and ensure data quality and build scalable tools. They communicate findings with the most effective and influential methods.

The complexity of research and skills for a Business Analyst is well beyond basic data entry and extraction. It involves design and development of automated data pipelines, sophisticated analytical modeling and intuitive data visualization. This role will directly be responsible for maintaining front end code using Python, SQL, HTML, Java, and R, or other similar coding languages. This role will have high level visibility due to the nature of the toolsets being maintained, built, and the network impact of analysis conducted. This role has great exposure to a broad scope that will help shape the future of the business.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the development and maintenance of new and existing solution artifacts which are focused on driving efficiency within the business via analysis, metrics, and reporting dashboards.

  • Partner with operations/business teams to consult, develop and implement KPI’s, automated reporting/process solutions, and process improvements to meet business needs.

  • Enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format.

  • Prepare and deliver business requirements reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks.

  • Participate in strategic and tactical planning discussions.

  • Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our business needs.

A day in the life

As a Business Analyst, you will own the design, creation, and management of extremely large datasets. From Day 1, you will be challenged with a variety of tasks, ranging from creating datasets, reports, dashboards to metadata modeling, pipeline monitoring. You will interact with internal program and product owners, and technical teams to gather requirements, structure scalable and perform data solutions. You will be responsible to tune query performance against large and complex data sets. You will help translate analytic insights into concrete, actionable recommendations for business or product improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • 3+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience

  • 3+ years of business or financial analysis experience

  • Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights

  • Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders

  • Experience with Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $143,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
