Cultivate Learning has an outstanding opportunity for a Content Specialist. This multi-faceted center is leading the national effort to put evidence-based early childhood practices into everyday practice in Head Start and childcare programs by developing print and multi-media products, developing and delivering training and professional development, guiding the successful transition of students and families to elementary school, and implementing a higher education strategy to help early learning teachers meet their educational requirements.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Content Specialist will be a key member of the Professional Learning and Coaching team and will be independently responsible for collaborating to conceptualize, develop, and disseminate culturally sustaining professional development materials in the areas of early care and education teaching practices. This position requires skills in writing and communication with an audience that is diverse in levels of education, culture, and first language. This position will also participate in delivery of training material. In addition, the Content Specialist will manage the workflow editing and final production of the professional development resources they are assigned to.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES In support of this effort the duties of the Content Specialist will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop, write, and edit content for courses, training, and professional development materials. Formats include print, web, digital, and others.

  • Participate in simultaneous multilingual design process.

  • Research and utilize evidence-based research materials into accessible language for teachers, early care and education providers, and other users. .

  • Develop culturally sustaining professional development material for teachers, early care and education providers, and other users.

  • Lead projects from inception to completion and project manage on a regular basis.

  • Actively participate in a review and evaluation process, including peer review, to ensure creation of high-quality and culturally sustaining content.

  • Collaborate with media, graphic design, instructional design, and other units across Cultivate Learning.

  • Participate in or lead meetings with project partners (both within Cultivate Learning and externally with project funders and stakeholders).

  • Work with state partner organizations including the Department of Children, Youth and Families, Child Care aware of Washington, and others to design and implement stakeholder review processes on professional development products.

  • Deliver instruction and training to early care and education coaches, early care and education providers and training professionals.

  • Regularly communicate goals, milestones, and project timelines with supervisor, project teams, unit leaders, and partners through required reporting and communication platforms.

  • Perform project management for assigned projects to ensure successful development from inception to completion.

  • Coordinate with the Communications team on marketing plans as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree in Education or related field AND.

  • At least 3 years of experience working or consulting with early care and education environments. Equivalent experience or courses will be considered for degree requirement. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in designing, writing, developing and editing culturally sustaining professional development materials for early care and education providers and caregivers.

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity in early learning and professional development.

  • Demonstrated experience in using appropriate professional style guides (e.g., APA style) and ability to communicate complex ideas in written materials.

  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of a team.

  • Ability to problem solve, take initiative, set priorities, manage multiple projects and exercise good judgment in a fast paced, dynamic and deadline driven environment in an organized and professional manner.

  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to manage confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner.

  • Proficiency with personal computing environment, Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting platforms, filesharing platforms, and the Internet. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master degree in early learning or related fields.

  • Background knowledge and experience in teaching young children with disabilities.

  • Professional experience developing higher education courses or curriculum and training materials for early learning.

  • Coaching and/or training experience on effective teaching practices.

  • Deep familiarity with multiple early learning assessment tools and/or certified and reliable on CLASS or ERS measures.

  • Comfort with project management software like Asana or Smartsheet.
