JPMorgan Chase Developer Portal Product Director in Seattle, Washington

As part of JPMorgan Chase (JPMC) Consumer and Community banking (CCB), API Marketplace creates business value by facilitating the connection of API supply with API demand. We do this by providing API engineers the tooling and capabilities they need to autonomously manage the software delivery lifecycle of their API products at each step in the process from definition to distribution. CCB has embarked on an "API First" journey, and our team plays a critical role in making this journey possible for engineers across the organization.

As a Product Director in API Marketplace, you lead innovation through the development of products and features that delight customers. As a leader on the team, you leverage your advanced capabilities to challenge traditional approaches, remove barriers to success, and foster a culture of continuous innovation that helps inspire cross-functional teams create groundbreaking solutions that address customer needs.

Job responsibilities

  • Oversees the product roadmap, vision, development, execution, risk management, and business growth targets

  • Leads the entire product life cycle through planning, execution, and future development by continuously adapting, developing new products and methodologies, managing risks, and achieving business targets like cost, features, reusability, and reliability to support growth

  • Coaches and mentors the product team on best practices, such as solution generation, market research, storyboarding, mind-mapping, prototyping methods, product adoption strategies, and product delivery, enabling them to effectively deliver on objectives

  • Owns product performance and is accountable for investing in enhancements to achieve business objectives

  • Monitors market trends, conducts competitive analysis, and identifies opportunities for product differentiation; uncovers customer solutions and integrates them into the product roadmap

  • Works with JPMorganChase and partner developers to identify challenges and make sure the developer portal solves for these challenges; Builds relationships with other platform teams within the firm & identify opportunities for integrations/inner sourcing with the API Management Platform

  • Defines end to end experienced: portal UI, identity and access management, observability and associates reporting to seamless traffic management

  • Owns, maintains, and develops a product backlog that enables development to support the overall strategic roadmap and value proposition; Collaborates with engineering, architecture, design, and stakeholders to create a product roadmap that reflects the outcomes and key results set by the business

  • Builds the framework and tracks the product's key success metrics such as cost, feature and functionality, risk posture, and reliability

  • Understands and translates business requirements into epics that directly support the organization's initiatives

  • Works directly with design team to develop an experience that delights platform customers while balancing the security and control requirements of the firm

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 8+ years of experience or equivalent expertise delivering products, projects, or technology applications

  • Extensive knowledge of the product development life cycle, technical design, and data analytics

  • Proven ability to influence the adoption of key product life cycle activities including discovery, ideation, strategic development, requirements definition, and value management

  • Experience driving change within organizations and managing stakeholders across multiple functions

  • Proven working experience in developing a portal from scratch

  • Previous experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders to develop a combined roadmap

  • Demonstrates proficiency in written & verbal communication, specifically in translating technical API related concepts to a broad audience; demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with leaders or "manage up"

  • Advanced understanding of identity and access management concepts

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: able to present facts, thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise and convincing manner to senior leaders, key stakeholders, employees and third-party vendors

  • Results-oriented and self-motivated; self-starter with capability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously, with appropriate sense of urgency

  • Demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions, take accountability for those decisions while candidly challenging the status quo to drive the right customer journey outcomes

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Recognized thought leader within a related field

  • Experience working with APIs and Postman

  • Prior coding experience
