The position will lead a broad effort to improve communications about the work of the University of Washington Autism Center (UWAC). UWAC is devoted to supporting autistic individuals and their families through exceptional clinical services, innovative scientific research and high-quality training. UWAC is part of the Institute on Human Development and Disability at the University of Washington and incorporates faculty and staff including psychologists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, board certified behavior analysts, and behavior technicians from the UW School of Medicine, College of Arts & Sciences, and College of Education.

The Events and Communications Services Manager plays a pivotal role in orchestrating and executing strategic events and communication initiatives to further public awareness of the UWAC and will report directly to the Director of Operations with direction and collaboration with the UWAC Director.

This position requires adept coordination of event logistics, creation of comprehensive communication strategies, and engagement with diverse stakeholders to ensure the UWAC communications and events reflect the mission, values and high quality of work at UWAC. The individual in this role will collaborate closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure the seamless execution of events and dissemination of key messages aligned with the organizations' missions and goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Communication Strategic Planning and Implementation:

• Collaborate with UWAC Director and program staff to create and implement a comprehensive communications plan aligned with organizational values and objectives. • Ensure consistent messaging across UWAC publications, newsletters, and events, reflecting key organizational messages and priorities. • Create, execute and evaluate communications plans, including social media, to deliver impactful online content, managing UWAC's website and social media presence effectively. • Create and execute digital strategies Create, produce, and edit communication materials/campaigns for internal and external audiences, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values. • Monitor and analyze social media trends, utilizing analytical tools to assess the effectiveness of social marketing efforts and identify opportunities for engagement and outreach. • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement and communicate program goals, vision, and progress effectively, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.

Event Planning, and Implementation:

• Increase the visibility of the UWAC by creating, implementing, and evaluating strategic events for UWAC. This will include the annual benefit, recognition events, educational programs, and community gatherings. • Identify event goals and devise innovative event programming strategies to enhance public engagement, leveraging technology as appropriate. • Collaborate with internal UW partners to create impactful in-person and digital experiences supporting fundraising and alumni engagement objectives. • Manage a portfolio of events from conception to completion, ensuring high-quality execution within established timelines and budgets. Create event proposals, timelines, and strategies aligning with event goals. • Manage event logistics including venue selection, vendor contracts, technology platforms, and budget. Prepare event materials, guest lists, and program content, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and audience preferences. • Oversee day-of event operations, ensuring a seamless experience for attendees and addressing any issues promptly. • Conduct post-event evaluations and provide recommendations for future improvements.

External Engagement:

• Collaborate with UWAC Director to clarify strategic goals and vision, providing support to ensure public communication success. • Lead efforts to identify and address barriers to communication strategy success, troubleshooting issues and implementing effective solutions. • Oversee communication plan and execution, managing milestones, dependencies, and decision-making processes. • Create dashboards to track key communication metrics, facilitating informed decision-making and continuous improvement efforts. • Lead communication efforts with UWAC team, stakeholders, and management, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational objectives. • Support the creation and communication of the program's vision and goals, fostering engagement and buy-in from stakeholders and the public.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree and three years experience in marketing, communications, event management or related field.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels. • Familiarity with principles of scientific and/or health care communication. • Familiarity with communication strategies and experience in higher education or academic medical settings. • Knowledge of event registration platforms, project management tools, and donor database platforms.
